the experience
a sleep clinic like no other

You arrive to find a bright space with pleasant staff. You won't be waiting long, but you can pass the time in our lounge by reviewing information about sleep on computer or in written packets. Perhaps you'd like to simply relax from your busy schedule with a magazine. You are offered soda, juice, or water. The office personnel are pleased to chat. The clinicians greet you in the waiting room, and nobody is wearing a white coat. Your evaluation is explained, and the recommendations are clear before you leave the exam room. You are welcome to stay and learn more in our resource center. If a sleep study is needed, you should take a look at the bedrooms before you go, or take the virtual tour that is available (coming soon) on our website.

You walk into the bedroom and close the door. The first thing you notice is silence, because each room has been insulated from sound. The room is big enough to feel generous, and the decorations remind you of a nice hotel. The queen-sized bed has a memory foam mattress, and when you sit down, you feel like you could sink in for a snooze. The bathroom is spacious as well, and includes the area where the technologists will get you prepped for your study. You can stay in the bedroom from the time you arrive for your study, relaxing in a chair, or retiring to the bed and its luxuriant sheets. You can also choose to walk around the common area of the sleep suites in the robe we provide, finding a refreshment and snack in the patient lounge. Two rooms have a comfortable bed for spouse, caretaker, or parent, so you don't have to be alone. During the night, our technologists will make every effort to ensure your comfort, and they will gently awaken you in the morning. After the testing equi pment is removed you can take a relaxed, warm shower and prepare for your day. You'll be pleased to find a continental breakfast waiting for you in the patient lounge.

The concept is simple: if you are comfortable and relaxed, you'll sleep better, and we will get the best idea of what is disturbing your sleep.

Clinical Services:

Sleep Laboratory Assessment: Available sleep testing procedures include nocturnal polysomnogram (PSG), daytime Multiple Sleep Latency Testing (MSLT), and daytime Maintenance of Wakefulness Testing (MWT) (see services). Home PSG screening studies may be employed in certain cases to prepare for laboratory testing. Actigraphy (a motion-detecting bracelet) may be used to chart a client's sleep-wake pattern for 1-2 weeks.

Clinical Evaluation: Our services begin on our HIPAA secured website, where you are encouraged to complete clinical questionnaires regarding your sleep history and medical history. Coming soon there will be questionnaires that screen for symptoms of daytime sleepiness, depression, and overall quality of life. Some of these questionnaires are useful in following your progress over time. Expect your initial evaluation to last 40 minutes, and your follow-up visits to last 20 minutes, though these may be longer as needed.
