Kenneth Plotkin, MD
CEO and Medical Director

Dr. Plotkin obtained his medical doctorate from Case Western Reserve University, completed his neurology training at Georgetown University Medical Center, then remained at Georgetown for two years of fellowship training in sleep medicine and clinical neurophysiology. He joined the Georgetown faculty in 1995 as interim director of the epilepsy and neurodiagnostic division, director of the neurology residency training program, and faculty in the Georgetown Sleep Disorders Center. Dr. Plotkin moved to the University of Rochester in 1999, joining the neurology faculty of the Strong Epilepsy Center. He served as medical director for the University of Rochester Sleep Research Laboratory from 2001 until 2005, providing oversight for a broad spectrum of clinical insomnia investigations. Dr. Plotkin provids care for the full spectrum of sleep problems through Sleep Insights, located at the Linden Oaks Medical Campus in Rochester, New York, where he is also available for the evaluation and care of epilepsy.

 
 




Scott Blodgett, R.EEG T., RPSGT
Chief Operating Officer

Scott Blodgett has dedicated several years of his life to health care. His background in Emergency Medical Services started him in the field working as a technologist in the Surgical Intensive Care Unit at the University of Rochester Medical Center. After the ICU, Mr. Blodgett worked in the area of Neurology learning a variety of neurodiagnostic tests. He is registered both as an Electroencephalographic Technologist (R.EEG T.), and as a Registered Polysomnographic Technologist (RPSGT). Mr. Blodgett is also a member of the American Society of Electroneurodiagnostic Technologists (ASET), where he is a member of the Governmental Advocacy Committee, The American Association of Sleep Technologists (AAST), and the American Academy of Sleep Medicine (AASM). Scott has enjoyed caring for a broad range of neurological disorders, and has prided himself over the years in helping to raise the bar of patient care. As Chief Operating Officer at Sleep Insights, he is dedicated to promoting the highest level of patient care and technical expertise by the staff. Dietitian, On Nutrition

Carol Plotkin has been a registered dietitian for twelve years. She is a graduate of Case Western Reserve University, where she received both her Bachelors and Masters of Science degrees. She worked in several hospitals in the Washington, DC area from 1991-1995, including George Washington University Hospital. She helped to direct the training of other nutrition professionals through the Marriott Dietetic Internship Program in the National Capital area, and has done extensive nutrition counseling for weight loss, diabetes, kidney disease, high blood pressure, heart disease and cancer. Since moving to the Rochester, NY area she has taught community classes to help others learn how to shop for healthier food choices, cook with whole foods, and include antioxidant-rich foods in their diets. Her emphasis is on wellness, disease prevention, and overall physical fitness. She is an active member of the American Dietetic Association, and is an American College of Sports Medicine certified fitness instructor.

 
 




Chief Technologist

Marc Murphy serves as the Chief Technologist of Sleep Insights Medical Services. His background in Emergency Medical Services and Neurophysiology gives him a unique, patient-directed approach to management. Mr. Murphy works closely with Dr. Plotkin and the technologists of Sleep Insights to oversee and ensure that all nighttime, and daytime studies are of the highest technical quality. Director of Respiratory Care

Timothy Berns is a registered respiratory therapist with considerable experience in the management of respiratory disorders and the use of CPAP equipment. He has been in the respiratory field for the last nine years, providing care for patients in the critical care units of The University of Rochester Medical Center, and The University of Maryland Medical Center. Mr. Berns is the Director of Respiratory Care Services at Sleep Insights. Among his many tasks, he is directly responsible for dispencing CPAP equipment, and educating our patients on CPAP therapy.
